Shooting Stars Team Manager Dimeji Lawal has backed struggling Gafar Olafimihan to rediscover his form and goalscoring touch to boost Shooting Stars title and continental push.

The Oluyole Warriors forward has not scored in four matches at the Nigeria Professional Football League this season and is looking completely out of sorts.

Olafimihan was Shooting Stars top scorer last season at the Nigeria National League with 16 goals and was decorated with highest goal scorer award - having scored three more goals at the Super 8 play off at Enugu. The former Racine FC player, who was also named the best player of the season by the organiser of the second-tier league is currently finding life uneasy with no assist and goal.

Dimeji Lawal popularly called 'Kabongo' in an open chats with OyoSportsNews had thrown his weight behind the former First Bank FC and Ikorodu United points man ahead NPFL matchday cracker against the 'People's Elephants'.

"He had a tough pre-season games, he was unwell, injured and had to see his family at the same time. Remember his wife was delivered of baby during our campaign at the NNL. In fact, I commended his seriously, dedication, and professionalism, some players would have been distracted by this news but he stood firmed and pushed up his career to the super 8 at Enugu."

"He need to be back very fast, I won't agree with some quarters that he's a NNL striker, he can deliver anyday, anytime at any football level. We are missing his goals and I believe he will put smiles on our faces again."

Lawal insists lack of goals is only a blip and backed the former First Bank of Lagos to quickly bounce back. He believes that this dry spell is merely temporary.
