Recall that Ajibade Ibrahim had won gold in 10 Kilometre Individual Time Trial (ITT) on Day 3 after finishing first ahead of other cyclists. He came second in today's 20Kilometres Boys Point Race within one hours, twelve minutes behind Team Lagos. Team Lagos clinched both gold and bronze medals while Team Oyo settled for silver. BASKETBALL: TEAM OYO OVERPOWER TEAM RIVERS, SET RECORD IN FEMALE FINAL

They overpowered Team Rivers 20-14 in the semi-final tie on Wednesday to seal their first ever final after winning silver medal at the 5th (Kwara 2019) edition held in Ilorin, Kwara state. Team Oyo were unbeaten from the group stage beating Team Rivers, Team Bauchi, Team Niger, Team Bayelsa, and Team Plateau with 7-1, 9-2, 6-5, 4-2 and 13-3 respectively. The state female basketball athletes were dominant at the semi-final tie starting from the first quarter. They went into the break with six points and continued thier dominance at the last quarter to win the tie. Team Oyo will face host Team Delta at the final billed for tomorrow, Thursday 28th, September 2023.

The prodigy won two gold medals in the standing class, 9 singles and mixed double which qualifies him for the para Olympics games that is scheduled to hold in France in the year 2024. Earlier, the prolific para player won Gold at the National Para Sports festival held at Abuja, Nigeria in 2023. Recall that the state athletes in Chess event booted out host Team Delta and Team Kogi at the round one and round two respectively with 4-0 same scoreline. The male and female athletes under the tutor of Coach Olabode Sofoluwe began thier event yesterday after Adepoju Ayomide, Sambo Joseph, Mufutau Waris and Odoola Fawas defeated thier counterparts from Delta state and Kogi state. In the men's category, Usman Ayoola (male) and Hammed Ayatulai (male) defeated Team Bauchi and Team Plateau respectively by 3-0 same scoreline. The only female athlete in table tennis event, Hammed Fatimoh also qualified for the round of 32 after beating Team Niger by 2-0. The trio made thier debut yesterday at the National Youth Games and will all be in action later today after another technical meetings and seedings. The duo were announced by the Acting General Manager of the Oyo State Sports Council, Mr Tunde Ajibike shortly after addressing the entire athletes after thier lunch break.
