Sunshine Stars gaffer Ayodeji Ayeni believed his players show good tenacity and admitted they were lucky to get a point in Ibadan against Shooting Stars at the Nigeria Professional Football League matchday six fixture.

The Akure Gunners were in great form heading into Sunday's evening clash versus Shooting Stars. They were unbeaten in three games, with their last defeat coming on December 26th, 2021 at the hands of Abia Warriors.

Shooting Stars got the opener courtesy of Gafar Olafimihan 22nd minute from the spot but the lead was quickly cancelled by Afeez Ajagbe's 42nd effort.

Speaking to OyoSportsNews at the post match interview; Ayeni said his team got a valuable point and wasn't disappointed with shooting stars' equalizer.

"We got a valuable point here today, a fantastic point that will help us in the table. I'm happy with the point. As I said, we are brothers and what ever happened after the match is still okay. We are lucky with the point. The players were able to curtail shooting stars attacks. I think we are a bit lucky today, I give it to the boys."

17th minutes after the game resumed at the second half, Sunshine Stars took a surprising lead that silenced shooting stars fans at the stadium which was filled to the brim. The visitors looked like they may have picked their first away win but Wasiu Alalade gave shooting stars a life line with a solo finish at the 72nd minute. They both settled for 2-2 result.

Ayodeji Ayeni's tutor side will be up against Gombe United on Wednesday and he has promised to maintain his unbeatable run.
