VISUALLY IMPAIRED ATHLETE WINS GOLD AND SILVER MEDALS IN GOLD COAST

By Oluseyi Adedire Twitter/Instagram: @oyosportsnews FB: Oyo Sports Update A visually impaired para-athlete from Oyo State, Oyindamola Tijani won gold and silver medals at the recently concluded CAC African Road and Paracycling Championship that took place in Accra Ghana. During the competition, Tijani Oyindamola and his pilot, won gold medal and recorded 17. 8 kilometre individual time trial, Class B, tandems within the time of 29 minutes and 18 seconds. Similarly, he also achieved 36km. Men's Road Race Class B, tandems which made him clinch Silver Medal within the time of 1 hour 3 minutes and 45 seconds. Earlier, three Nigerian athletes, Victoria Lawal, Peace Olawale and Eze Ukpeseraye won three gold medals in various categories. The first edition of the tournament which started on February 8 ended on February 17, 2023. 19 African countries actively in the competitions. It is an Olympic qualification championship.

OYO FA SET FOR FEDERATION CUP DRAW

Association Secretary, Mr Kehinde Ojelowo in a private chat with OyoSportsNews hinted that no fewer than twenty football clubs from the NPFL, NNL, NLO and grassroots clubs will be participating in this year's edition. Recall that Saki United emerged Champions at the last edition after beating Oyo State Housing Corporation FC in the final. The Asabari Warriors after beating Shooting Stars via penalties at the semi-final emerged as Champions to win their first ever major title. CYCLING: VICTORIA LAWAL, PEACE OLAWALE WIN GOLD FOR NIGERIA IN GHANA

By Oluseyi Adedire Twitter/Instagram: @oyosportsnews FB: Oyo Sports Update Nigeria cyclists, Victoria Lawal, Peace Olawale, and Eze Ukpeseraye have won gold medals for Nigeria at the ongoing I9th CAC African Road and Paracycling Championship holding at Olebu, Ablekuma, Pokuase Route, Accra in Ghana. Victoria Lawal and Peace Olawale from Oyo state emerged as champions in the Female Youth Category while Eze Ukpeseraye from Delta State also clinched Gold in the road race. The maiden edition of the tournament which commenced on February 8, 2023, is expected to end on 17th February 2023. Cyclists from 19 African Countries under the umbrella of Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), The Ministry of Youth and Sports, The Ghana Cycling Federation (GCF), National Sports Authority (NSA) as well as Ghana Olympics Committee were actively involved.

By Oluseyi Adedire Twitter/Instagram: @oyosportsnews FB: Oyo Sports Update With in the next two weeks Oyo State government will reward the proficient and skillful athletes that won Gold, Silver and Bronze medals at the last 2022 Commonwealth (Birmingham 2022), National Sport Festival(Asaba 2022), First Para Games (Abuja 2022) and African Cycling Championship (Tack) 2022 held in Abuja. The Executive Governor of the Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde made this disclosure today at the Executive Chambers of the office of governor while hosting the athletes that represented the state in all the four tournaments that took place in the year 2022. While addressing the Athletes, Coaches and other Stakeholders at the forum.
