Sweet Revenge As Shooting Stars Pip Nnewi United 2-1

Image
It was payback time as Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan, took their pound of flesh from Nnewi United, beating the visitors 2-1 in a NNL Group B1 matchday fourteen tie. The encounter, played at the Dipo Dina Stadium, Ijebu-Ode, saw NNL leading goalscorer, Gafar Olafimihan add to his account, same as Malomo Ayodeji. The Oluyole Warriors did not hide their intention to avenge thei 0-1 first round loss to the Anaedo Lions, the only defeat they have suffered so far in the ongoing campaign, as they wsooped on the visitors right from the blast of the whistle. All their efforts however failed to yield dividends as the visitors defence stood their ground, while goalkeeper Chatta Chisom also made some good saves. The unrelenting Shooting Stars continued to pile incessant pressure on their opponent and one of the attacks led to a handball inside the box by an Nnewi United defender and the referee wasted no time in awarding a penalty kick to the host  The game was however held up for 20

Shooting Stars on Revenge Mission Against Nnewi United

Revenge mission, that is exactly how best to describe the quest of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan, when they take on Nnewi United in a NNL Group B1 matchday fourteen face off on Sunday. The Oluyole Warriors were crusing on in a fashionable manner, winning all their previous eight matches prior to the gane against Nnewi United, before having that run halted by the Anaedo Lions. Okereke Mmaduabuchi scored an 87th minute goal in the matchday nine encounter decided at the Rojenny Stadium, Oba, on Saturday, March 27, 2021, to end Shooting Stars' winning streak.  The Ibadan soccer lords have since got back on track but losing in such a manner still hurts, hence, the players and their officials surely, would be determined to pay back the visitors in their own coin, come Sunday at the Dipo Dina Stadium. Apart from going for a revenge against the visitors, Shooting Stars will also aim at returning to winning ways on their adopted home ground, having being held to a 1-1 draw on t

Stalemate As Ekiti United Survives Oluyole Warriors' Firepower

Ekiti United FC of Ado-Ekiti, became the first team in the ongoing campaign to come out from the Lion's den unscathed as they put up a spirited fight to hold Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan to a one all draw. Before the Nigeria National League (NNL) matchday twelve pairing played at the Dipo Dina Stadium, Ijebu-Ode, no team had been able to survive the firepower of the Group BI leaders on that turf, but the coach Ayodeji Ayeni tutored lads, who were held to a goalless draw by the Ibadan soccer lords in the first leg, enjoyed the luxury of luck, to pick a valuable point. It was a day the god of soccer had destined the visitors to share the spoils with the Oluyole Warriors, who expectedly had the game under control in both halves but were unfortunate not to squeeze out a win. Not willing to give any room to complacency, the Edith Agoye led technical crew of 3SC paraded a hit squad with skipper Omololu Waheed combining well with Abbey Benson, Isiaka Mutiu,Taye Muritala and

Crown FC started their second round of the NNL campaign on a good note as they defeated Abia Comets 1 goal to nil in the return leg match played on Saturday at the Lautech Sports Complex, Ogbomoso. Coming from the background of the last result where the Abia based side won the Ajilete Warriors 2-0, the visitors held the homeside to a goalless draw in the first half of the game making it a tough encounter which defied lines of prediction. With a lot to prove in terms of expectations from their fans, the situation soon change for the homeside in the second half as Olayemi Ogunleye found the back of the net just four minutes from the blast of the whistle. Ogunleye, a debutant had profited from a poor catch of the Abia Comets FC Goalkeeper in the 49th minutes and a simple tap into the net would ultimate decided the game. Crown FC going forward after the change to the scoreline got some goal chances but weren't clinical enough to turn them in as  expected. Coach Oladuuni Oyekale of Crow
