OYO FA ROLLS OUT PLAN FOR 2024 STATE FEDERATION CUP

The Association's Secretary, Mr Kehinde Adebayo Ojelowo, revealed this in a communique made available to OyoSportsNews shortly after the executive members held it first meeting in year 2024 at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Ibadan. The association was quick to express heartfelt appreciation to the State Government under the leadership of His Excellency, Engineer Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde for prompt release of fund to the two State owned clubs (ShootingStars [3SC], Ibadan and Crown Football Club, Ogbomoso) since he assumed office and the increment of 3SC subvention since November, 2023 for the club to perform creditably well in the League. Despite being a friendly match in preparation for the second round of the Beninese Premier League. The match was a thrilling, open, and even affair with both sides coming close to a winner. All eyes were on JAK FC as this was the team’s first game under their new head coach, Anthony Encho. Not to forget that he just signed a dotted line with club 48 hours ago, but looking back at the 6th position on the log, there was huge progress that cannot go unnoticed. The Cameroonian's first game in charge of JAK FC is a positive sign. It is a new dawn and a new era for Jeunesse Athlétque De Kétou Football Club.

The former Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS FC) has signed a contract at the Stade Jean-Pierre Gascon Cotonou, Benin untl the end of the ongoing season, with the option for an extra year. Recall that the former Crown FC of Ogbomoso early this year parted way with Ijebu United after seven league matches. The Cameroonian soccer tactican today took charge of his first training session ahead of the second round of the Beninese Premier League. JAK FC, a former league champion in 2012/2013 season on Saturday, January 13th played a goalless score with ASVO.

OYO CYCLIST CLINCHES 3 MEDALS AT AFRICAN CHAMPIONSHIP

The four-day event held in Cario, Egypt between 10th and 14th of January had in attendance nine countries for the cycling championship. Nigeria, South Africa, Egypt, Algeria, Ivory Coast, Uganda, Mauritius, Benin Republic and Sudan were well represented. Oyo state athlete, Yekeen Tawakalt win overall three medals. She settled for two Silver in 4KM sprint and 1KM sprint. She also emerged third [bronze] in 200m flying start. Speaking to newsmen, Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Honourable Wasilat Adegoke expressed happiness with the feat by Tawakalt, an indigene of Oyo and a graduate of Mechanical Engineering from The Polytechnic Ibadan, Oyo State.
