OFFICIAL: NPFL TRANSFER WINDOW OPENS

And who are the big names to look out for? The League Management Company (LMC) has announced and declared open Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) 2022/23 season transfer window. According to the LMC, clubs can now register new signings officially, it will run for 61 days - starting from 1st of August, 2022 with deadline day on September 30th, 2022. The spending this summer is likely to be significantly impacted by the financial constraints brought about by the Nigeria economy system as we know that 97% of Nigeria Professional league clubs are funded by the state government. NWF President Dr Ibrahim Promises More Medals It has been a medal harvest day for Team Nigeria in Birmingham as two more Nigeria weightlifters, Lawal Rafiatu Folashade and Edidiong Joseph Umoafia have won more medals in weightlifting at the ongoing Commonwealth Games. Folashade on Sunday afternoon won Nigeria's second gold medal in 59kg women category. With a total lift of 206kg comprising 90kg snatch and 116kg clean and jerk. She also set a new Commonwealth Games record in the class. The 26 years old followed the footprint of her compatriot, Olarinoye Adenike Adijat who had on Saturday night won Nigeria's first gold medal in weightlifting event. Earlier on Sunday morning, Edidiong Joseph Umoafia narrowly lost the gold medal but settled for bronze. AITEO CUP: GALLANT SAKI UTD BOW OUT AFTER DEFEAT TO KATSINA UTD

Mustapha Salisu opened the scoring for Katsina United at the 35th minute to end the first half. After thirteen minutes into the second, Saki United got the leveller with a fine finish courtesy of Mustapha Jawad at the 58th the equalizer did not last as Katsina United took the lead again for the second time through A.Toufeek. Owoade Emmanuel, the hero for Saki United against Sokoto Professionals scored at the 72nd minute as both sides settled for penalty shoot-out. The Asabari warriors lost 5-2 on penalties but were applauded by football fans at the stadium.

The Nigeria National League side were beaten 4-2 by Housing Corporation FC led by Coach Sanusi Musiliu Kolawole 'Ikerika' at the Minna township stadium. Housing Corporation FC have not lost thier last three competitive matches with two wins and a draw which earned them a promotion to the Nationwide League II. Akinlabi Oladimeji opened the score sheet for the Ibadan based team before Ogungbade Faruk increased the tally to two at the 31st minute. Two minutes later, Jigawa Golden Stars pulled one back to reduce the deficit but it didn't last as Ogungbade Faruk grabbed his second goal to send the two teams to halftime break with 3-1 lead. The football competition and award ceremony, according to Main Organizing Committee after its inaugural meeting held in Ikenne-Remo, Ogun State, disclosed that the football event will hold as from 16th August to 21st with the award ceremony holding in the evening of the final.
