PICTURES/VIDEOS: LEKAN SALAMI STADIUM GETS FACELIFT AHEAD KATSINA CLASH

|By Kehinde Olaniyi & Oluseyi Adedire| Twitter/Instagram: @oyosportsnews | FB: Oyo Sports Update The Lekan Salami stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan now wears a new look ahead of the Nigeria Professional Football League matchday four fixtures between Shooting Stars and Katsina United which has been rescheduled to Monday, January 3rd, 2022.   OyoSportsNews in a visit to the stadium this evening sighted groundsmen and other support staff putting necessary touches to the facility. The newly installed grass pitch was not left behind as it was wearing a new look after several wetting through pipes and other means but not water sprinklers. Coincidentally, Shooting Stars players and officials after returning from Makurdi where they lost 2-1 to Lobi Stars last Wednesday were on the field for their usual training session and preparation ahead of Katsina United encounter.  A 3SC top official told OyoSportsNews that all players are fully fit without injury and suspension before Monday cracker.

IFA CONFIRM LEAGUE WILL RESUME JAN 6

Recall that the Ibadan Football Association understand Barrister Rotimi Alli announced on December 23rd that league has been temporarily suspended for 15 days due to yuletide season. However the association through its media officer, Folorunsho Oyelakin fondly called 'Hoyeh' announced that the league will resume January 6 with fixtures involving Saki United against VIA Academy at 2pm while Adewale SC will confront Shooting Stars SC by 4pm. Hoyeh speaks further that any adjustment on the league fixtures will be communicated to affected teams in due course.

AGOYE ATTRIBUTES DEFEAT TO LOSS OF FOCUS

The Oluyole Warriors surrendered a first half lead, courtesy of Akilu Mohammed's 40th minute goal to fall 1-2 to the homers in a NPFL matchday three encounter played at the Aper Aku Stadium, Makurdi. Speaking after the game, in which two second half goals, gave Lobi Stars all three points, Agoye, said his boys failed to take the advantage they had in the duel. "We met a very good Lobi Stars team, a team that is well coached but when you make mistakes, you get punished. That was exactly what happened in the game. "We lost focus and we paid dearly for it. The Oluyole Warriors preferred number one shot stopper was on duty on matchday one against Gombe United at Pantami stadium on December 19. After making 10 saves from 16 attempts by the Scorpions, Dede was replaced by Olaide Okanlawon after suffering a knock. AHEAD NLO: ILAJI FC TO CONDUCT TRIALS

The recruitments will be made keeping an eye on the youth team which will be participating in the Nigeria Nationwide League One next season. According to Ilaji FC Head Coach and Sports Manager, Babatunde Odubola popularly called 'Ziko'. The trials are open for interested and talented players in and outside Oyo state and due to the ongoing pandemic, all players in the venue are instructed to follow the COVID-19 protocol. Wearing masks is mandatory for all. Ziko told OyoSportsNews that Ilaji FC players are expected to resume camp January 7th, 2022 while players on trials are also expected on January 9. He added that accomodations are free for players but the management of Ilaji hotels and sports resort would not be responsible for feeding and transportation.

Asked about his overall assessment on the match, Boboye was quick to replied: "We played very well but we conceded a stupid goal due to lack of concentration from my players."
