Ahead of the soon to commence 2021/2022 NPFL season, Technical Adviser of Rangers International F.C, Coach Abdul Maikaba has assured the club’s numerous fans that his team can win matches anywhere in the country knowing fully that he will have to prosecute some of his home fixtures for the season away from ‘The Cathedral’, Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu.

In a chat with RangersMedia, the vastly traveled gaffer who led Akwa United to its first Aiteo Cup triumph in the 2016/2017 season, said that he and his coaching crew were already working on the psychological build-up of his players towards the task at hand and was happy with the players’ responses.

“We are pushing the boys with regards to playing some of our home games away from Enugu and with the positive results we are getting from the players, I believe we can win anywhere. It is important for us now to put this in the minds of our players. We are already making them to be aware that it is not going to be easy so that we have good mental and good character towards any game which I believe will give us victory in any game,” stated the coach who have had stints with such clubs as Wikki Tourists, Enyimba International, Plateau United, and F.C Abuja.

On the eventual kickoff of the new season in less than a week with an away fixture to Katsina United on matchday 1, coach Maikaba said, “I can say that we are very, very ready for the start of the new season. The players are responding to training positively. We want to start well which I believe will help us consolidate on achieving our set target for the season. Looking at our game in Katsina, the only obstacle will be the distance and the harsh weather condition but I believe that we have what it takes to overcome these and start our season on a perfect note with a good result in Katsina.”

Recall that coach Abdul Maikaba joined the ‘Flying Antelopes’ from Plateau United at the start of the season and has found a perfect working team in his assistants led by coach Mbwas Mangut.
