BRILLIANT WARRIORS TRASH OYSHC TO RETAIN GSM PRE-SEASON TOURNAMENT

Gafar Olafimihan, Malomo Taofeek, Odeyemi Ebenezer and Seyi Okeowo were all on the score sheet this evening for Shooting Stars as they defeated Oyo State Housing Corporation FC and were crowned winner of Gov Seyi Makinde Pre-season Tournament second edition at the refurbished Lekan Salami stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan.











Shooting Stars secured a position at the final after a tough outing against Ilaji FC. The Oluyole Warriors were down 1-3 but came out smoking at the second half to secure 3-3 draw. The match was settled via penalty shoot-out and the Ibadan based side won 4-2.

At the third place match, Ilaji FC defeated Ogbomoso ZFA 3-1. Agunsoye John, Akindele Taiwo and Ogungbayi Boluwatife once again proved to fans that their debut in the tournament were not fluke.

Speaking to OyoSportsNews after the match, Chairman, Oyo State Football Association, Cheif James Ọdẹníran Alákínyẹlé of Akinyele was full of joy for the hitch free tournament. He dedicated the success of the competition to God and sports lover of Oyo state.

"All thanks to God for the success of the second edition. it has been God. I want to specially thani the state governor, the sports commissioner, sports ministry, sports council, executive members, board members and sports lovers. It has been a tough six days because it was a day to day activities."








Awards were given to players on each match and overall performance. Mustapha Jawad (Oke Ogun United) received the most valuable player of the tournament, Laide Okanlawon was awarded best goalkeeper. Akilu Mohammed netted four goals and was decorated top scorer award. First scorer and last scorer of the tournament were awarded Alpha scorer (Funmbi Adebamowo, Young stars) and 3SC, Seyi Okeowo) respectively.




Players were decorated with medals while cash prices of #100,000, #150,000, #200,000 were given to Ilaji FC, OYSH FC and Shooting Stars respectively.
