Shooting Stars Team Manager Dimeji Lawal wasn’t happy with his side’s performance against Akwa United, but he was at least pleased with the character they showed to salvage a draw.

The Oluyole Warriors looked as if they were heading for a first home defeat in their first home fixture in the Nigeria Professional Football League when Utibe Archibong got the visitors in front at the 29th minute.

But the hosts responded and earned themselves a point deep into added time when Ayo Adejubu struck home an equaliser for Shooting Stars at the 90th minute.

Lawal explained that the attitude shown by his players in those final minutes had satisfied him.

"Playing the champions is not supposed to be easy and in fact, it wasn't easy but we showed character and commitment. We can always get better and moving on the right direction."

The former Julius Berger and Real Madrid B player also bemoaned NPFL mid week fixture, citing hours spent on the road before a team could honour a match.

"We played last night, now on the road to Makurdi. The job is not that easy in this part of the world but love, passion and survival are the drive and strength."

Shooting Stars will on Wednesday face Lobi Stars at the matchday three of the Nigeria Professional Football League. The Oluyole Warriors currently occupied 15th position while the Ortom boys are on 14th position on the latest NPFL log.
