EEGUNBIYI BLOWS FINAL WHISTLE ON CAREER

Oyo state match official Eegunbiyi Olarinre Sulaimon has announced his retirement from refereeing at a final match of Ajayi Crowther University Vice Chancellor Soccer Cup held in Oyo town.

In a glittering career spanning more than two decades, Eegun as popularly called became the most recognisable figure among referees in recent years in the Nigeria Professional Football League. Eegunbiyi brings down the curtain with immediate effect on a career he began as a referee in training.

Eegun retired as a Nigeria Premier League referee after officiating several league matches starting from grade one amateur referee.

After his last match, Eegunbiyi expressed his happiness and gratitude in a lengthy message: "To God be the Glory as am Privileged to officiate the final match of the 2021 V.C Soccer Cup, Ajayi Crowther University of Oyo to end my career as an Active Referee."

"It has been a great Joy to serve Nigeria Football Federation, Nigeria Football Referees Association, Oyo State Football Association Oyo State Football Referees Council, Oyo Zonal Football Association and Oyo Football Referees Society where I started my Referee Career as Referee In Training (R. I. T) about two decades plus ago."

Retiring successfully as a Premier League Referee worth glorifying God Almighty. Am using this medium to appreciate the leaders of NFF/NRA, Oyo State Football Association, The Leaders and Executive Members of Oyo State Football Referees Council, The Elders, Excos and the Members of Oyo Zone Football Referees societies and all the

stakeholders in the game of Football for this wonderful opportunity given me to serve them meritoriously and successfully bow out of the Active Refereeing."

My Profound gratitude to the family and friends and all my admirers for their love, encouragement, Prayers and Support which make me the happiest person this time around. May Almighty God bless you all abundantly."

"Finally I appreciate all our Elders and members that deem it fit to grace my valedictory match today. All things of joy shall never elude you all." He concluded with prayer.
