PUC SEASON II: ISEYIN CITY DEFEAT IWAJOWA DIAMOND IN CUP OPENER

Peller Unity Cup 2017 runners up, Iseyin City kept their quest for the season two of Peller Unity Cup alive as they defeated their counterparts from Iwajowa local government, Iwajowa Diamond by two goals to one in their opening matchday one at the long awaited Unity Cup.


The game held at the OYSADEP stadium Saki, Oyo state lived up to its hype as it got traditional rulers, (Okere of Saki, Imperial Majesty, Oba Khalid Olabisi Ayinla Ilugbemidepo Oyedepo III), ex international (Mutiu Adepoju MON) and fans spellbound from the referee's blast to the final whistle.

Recall that Iseyin City were defeated by Iseyin United at the final derby match by 3-1 at the maiden edition.


However, it took Iseyin City two minutes into the game as Fidudusola Olaitan got the first goal of the match. Iseyin City should have easily doubled the tally at the 24th and 31st minutes but Iwajowa Diamond had the duo of Obaniyi Mathew and Adedokun Joseph to thank for thier solid defense prowess. Also, many thanks to Iwajowa Diamond's goalkeeper Shittu Nurudeen, who denied Iseyin City at the last five minutes of the first half owing to his sharp reflex saves.


Meanwhile, Iwajowa Diamond's resilience paid off at the 70th minutes via an equalizer from Michael Emmanuel. The leveller didn't last long as Hammed Ayuba gave his side another lead to secure a 2-1 win for Iseyin City.


On Thursday, Kajola Villa will trade tackles with Iwajowa Athletics at IDGS football pitch, Iseyin while Saki West Rovers will battle Saki East Babes at A.D.S primary school, Tede at 2pm. OYSADEP stadium, Saki will be the venue for Atisbo Royals vs Saki East United at 4pm on Friday.
