The Oyo State Football Association (OYSFA) under the leadership of Kabiesi/Chief James Ọdẹníran [The Alákínyẹlé of Akinyele] has approved and granted the local organizing committee of Peller Unity Cup to kick start the second edition of the annual football competition.

Recall that the state governing football authority last week warned clubs and coaches to stay away from the competition due to unofficial registration and other related issue after the maiden edition.

Speaking to OyoSportsNews, the association secretary, Mr Kehinde Ojelowo said the association has granted the local organizing committee approval to stage the competition after proper documentation and agreement were made and duly signed. He stressed further that Hon. Shina Peller [a member of the Federal House of Representative representing the Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Iwajowa/Kajola Federal Constituency in Oyo State] also promised to fulfill all pledges to teams, coaches and the association.

"I want to officially inform you that the association has approved the competition to start. Our earlier decision to stop the competition is for the interest of the participating teams, coaches and majorly for the growth and development of football in Oyo state. We observed many things were not done properly at the first edition and we must correct it for the interest of Oyo state football development."

"We spoke to Hon Peller on telephone and he has assured that all promises will be fulfilled in this year edition."

The Peller Unity Cup second season will feature twenty teams competing in ten local governments across Oke Ogun and its environs. The theme for this year edition is 'Road to Oke Ogun'.

Meanwhile, twenty football clubs will be selected, two from each of the 10 local governments in Oke Ogun. The local governments are: (Atisbo, Oorelope, Iseyin, Itesiwaju, Kajola, Irepo, Olorunsogo, Iwajowa, Saki East and Saki West).
