Gafar Olafimihan and Augustine Bafan are extremely doubtful for Shooting Stars' Nigeria Professional Football League game against Dakkada FC on Sunday and could even miss Wednesday's trip to Jos in another fixture against Plateau United.
Both sat out in today's highly entertaining training session at Lekan Salami stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan ahead of sunday's matchday 12 encounter.
Defender Bafan is struggling with inner bone pain on his left knee which he sustained against Enyimba in Aba on matchday 5. He was replaced by Ghali Falke at the 22nd minutes of play.
Surprisingly, Bafan was in action yesterday (Thursday) for shooting stars' IFA league match against DON FA but was also brought due to injury on the same spot.
The club's last season top scorer, Gafar Olafimihan had a knock with his ankle last Sunday against Remo Stars and was on seat as other players trained this evening.
Head Coach of Shooting Stars, Edith Olumide Agoye told OyoSportsNew after the training session that the two players were excluded in today's training due to minor injury. He confirmed that the duo will miss Sunday's home clash against Dakkada FC.
"Not a good one for Bafan after the game against Enyimba where he had injury, he came back yesterday against Don FA but unfortunately he felt something during the game and the best way is to stop at that moment and re- evaluate the situation and provide good treatment for him."
On Gafar Olafimihan, Agoye explained:
"Gafar twisted his ankle against Remo Stars, he's feeling better but we don't want to risk anything because it's better for us to wait a week for it to be well than force it which may lead to another calamity because every player is important for us at this moment."
Gafar Olafimihan:s only goal was against Sunshine Stars since the start of the season while Bafan is yet to play to his satisfaction.
