AHEAD NUGA: OAU DEFEATS TEAM OYO IN HANDBALL FRIENDLY

Obafemi Awolowo University male and female handball team this afternoon overpowered the Oyo state handball teams [Team Oyo] in preparation for the Nigeria University Games (NUGA) scheduled between March 16 – 27, 2022.





The university handball female team won silver at the last NUGA outing after losing to their counterparts from Kogi while thier male team settled for bronze medal. In a friendly match held at the handball/tennis court at the Lekan Salami stadium, in female category, OAU defeated Team Oyo 10-7 at the end of the second half while Team Oyo male team lost again by 16-28.




Speaking after the match, OAU Handball Team Coach Abubakar Adamu said the friendly matches are geared towards the fast approaching NUGA 2022 in Lagos.








He said the university sports management decided to come play Team Oyo because of their experience and to know his team weaknesses and level of thier readiness before the competition. He noted that some laspses have been noted for immediate correction.
