Festus Allen said he was delighted with MFM players' desire to "never give up" against Shooting Stars on Sunday evening after the church boys scored a late equalizer at the 90+3 minute to secure a point at the Lekan Salami stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan.
Shooting Stars looked set to grab another home at the Nigeria Professional Football League matchday 29 with a first half lead from Chidera Eze inside the box.
However, Ayo Adejubu, who had not scored since the resumption of second stanza was brought in at the 74th minute for Opeoluwa Olufemi but wasted many scoring chances.
After creating many attempts at the final fifteen minutes of the game, Micah Ojodomo got a equalizer deep into the stoppage time after connecting well with Nnduka David pass.
Festus Allen, a former ABS FC and Shooting Stars Head Coach expressed his feelings after snatching a point on the road.
"We never gave up." He begins."I keep on urging the players despite the three minutes added on. In the first half, we didn't play, if we had play exactly the way we did against Kano Pillars, the game would have been won before this time but what we did is to make changes at the second half. I brought in two experience players to strategies in the midfield and to put confidence in the players beca we lose balls easily."
The former City of David soccer tactician resigned from Nigeria National League side Cynosure FC on May 11 to join MFM and believed the new job is a challenge on his coaching career.
"Many people have called to ask why I joined MFM but I believed it is a challenge on my career. We have eleven matches to go and no one can say what would happen to the league leaders. It is a race of marathon, I never gave up."
