Shooting Stars U15 Coach, Adeyemo Ayodeji charles lauds his team's performance as they beat Sunshine Stars 2-1 at the Remo Stars stadium, Ikenne.
The 'Young' Oluyole Warriors emerged tops of group B, ahead of Katsina United and Enyimba FC of Aba whiile the young Owena Whales finished second in group D, behind Wikki Tourists of Bauchi and ahead of Rangers International of Enugu.
The 'Young' Oluyole Warriors booked their place in the semi-finals following thier second victory over the U15 Sunshine Stars team at the ongoing Nigeria Professional Football LALIGA U15 Promises.
Adeyemo Ayodeji charles believes his side’s solid preparation helped them with their performance against Sunshine Stars and previous results against Enyimba and Katsina United at the group stage.
After 1-1 draw at halftime, Shooting Stars' Wahab Hassan fired home from a goal mouth scramble, which proved to be the decider as they held onto the 2-1 lead till the end of the match.
Speaking to OyoSportsNews after the match, Coach Ayodeji fondly called 'AY' is optimistic his side can keep up their impressive form in the competition.
"It was tough but thank God at the end of the day we won. The players listen to the instructions at the half time and we won.
Honestly, it was a difficult match but we won. Normally, we know our game, the boys were forgetful of what to do, we (with Coach Jelili Oladoja) told them what we ought to do and what we are doing wrongly, we asked them to do what are needed in the second half and it eventually paid off"
After ten goals in three matches and conceding two so far, Ayodeji explained his tactical plans before the competition and why the players have been able to do well on artificial turf.
"Before this competition, we've organized ourselves on how we're going to play, we decided to attack consciously. When we continue to score, we have no problem and if you are stronger enough to score us - we must be able to score back immediately."
I think early arrival and solid preparation really helped thus far. We've been used to the field few days before the commencement of the competition. And back home, we had solid preparation and series of friendly matches."
Meanwhile, an elated Shooting Stars Chairman, Hon Babatunde Olaniyan fondly called Akoro who watched the match alongside the team general manager Dimeji Lawal, and Mr Rahman Olapade doled out fifty thousand naira as gift to the boys, in appreciation of their qualification for the semi final of the competition.
