All is now set for the second edition of Solat Telecoms Media Table Tennis Tournament which will start in Oyo state between May 19-25, the organisers have disclosed.
The tournament will see over twenty media practitioners in the state jostling to play in the second edition in Ibadan. It promises to be exciting, as the organisers have declared that all participating media houses will get tangible rewards than the maiden edition.
Speaking at the unveiling and press conference of the annual programme held at the NUJ press centre Iyanganku Ibadan, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Solat Telecoms Nigeria, Alhaji Ganiyu Hammed said the tournament was organised every year to encourage media practitioners especially sports wirters and presenters to be active in sports.
He added: “I as a person and Solat Telecoms Nigeria as a body is so happy to associate ourself with Oyo State Media Practitioners. It wasn't our own idea, the idea came from my brother, Sola Aiyegbajeje 'Aiyegbasports' few years back. This is our second edition and I believe the first edition went well as expected."
"I strongly believe this second edition will be better than the first edition we had April 2021. I will also like to state here that this idea is not politically motivated, it is primarily to have an impact in the society."
He continued: "About Solat Telecoms Nigeria not as a person, we try to add value, and have impact in success of the people. The second edition will be better as I said earlier, and we shall stick to our promise."
Recall that winners at the first edition were rewarded with washing machine, Hisense Television and Samsung mobile phone.
Also speaking at the occasion, seasoned sports journalist, Sola Aiyegbajeje thanked the donor for his continued support and cooperation with Oyo state media body and assured the donor of maximum support and publicity.
