After a goalless draw against Sunshine Stars in the Nigeria Professional Football League matchday 26 on Sunday evening, Shooting Stars Head Coach Edith Olumide Agoye sounded confident that his sides were tactically superior than Sunshine Stars.
The Oluyole Warriors soccer tactician said he was ‘delighted’ with Shooting Stars' performance after the side’s goalless draw with Sunshine Stars, but warned his players that ‘hard work is the only medicine’ going forward.
Efforts made by Emmanuel Lucky at the first half to put to Shooting Stars ahead were denied by Mustapha Lawal while Malomo Taofeeq also came close for the visitors but unable to connect well with Sochima Elum cross at the 76th minute.
And though Shooting Stars failed to register a shot on target at the last five minutes of the derby cracker but were solid at the defense, thanks to Isiaka Mutiu, Abbey Benson, Chidera Eze, Anaekwe Ebuka and most importantly - Udo Okechukwu who denied the Akure gunners on several occasion and was named the match of the match.
Speaking to OyoSportsNews after the match, Edith Agoye said: "One has to be very satisfied with a job weldone, the players came to the party and gave a good account of themselves. It was quite obvious yesterday that Shooting Stars were tactically superior to the team of Sunshine Stars. Every aspect of thier game that they hope to score or hurt us were well dealt with by shooting stars players on the field of play especially defending corner kicks, free kicks."
"We were also able to control the game, when we have the ball, we were good on possession, create passing, good movements and these created problem for Sunshine Stars players and it resulted to kicking and they try to injure most of our players"
Esin as fondly called by his football lovers said Shooting Stars were able to put limit to what Sunshine Stars could do on the field of play.
"We were able to put limit to what they could do, we came to Akure and executed a good game plan and got a point - although we felt we deserve to win if not for three occasion due to some reasons. To me, it was a very good outing." He concluded.
Eshin the brain box, love him, hate him, his tactical acumen cannot be quantified, a coach who can define his opponent before games. Highly professional, opinion oriented
