Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) players have earned high praise from their Chairman, Honourable Taiwo Lekan-Salami, following their spirited 2-1 comeback victory against Warri Wolves in Ozoro, Delta State; their first away triumph of the ongoing Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) campaign.
Delivering a message from the Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, the Chairman revealed that the Governor has promised a special winning bonus for the team anytime they secure maximum points away from home. This new incentive, he noted, will come in addition to the regular match bonuses provided by the club.
“The Governor is impressed with the resilience and progress of the team despite the slow start to the season. He wants the players to know their efforts are valued, and this gesture is meant to further motivate them to go all out in every fixture,” Hon. Taiwo said.
The Chairman also commended the players’ performance in Ozoro, describing the victory as a turning point that restored confidence after the club’s earlier home setback against Bayelsa United.
“The away win was not just a response to the loss in Ibadan, it was a demonstration of character, unity and determination. The players showed true fighting spirit, and this is exactly what the Governor wants to see every week,” he added.
While celebrating the milestone, the Chairman urged the squad to stay focused and avoid complacency ahead of their crucial home fixture against Plateau United on Sunday. He reminded the players of the Governor’s mandate: to compete for the league title and secure a continental ticket for Oyo State.
With Governor Makinde’s consistent backing and the players’ renewed determination, Shooting Stars will now look to build on their momentum and cement their place among the NPFL’s top contenders.
