PHscale RUGBY CLUB WINS U15 RUGBY LAGOS TOURNAMENT

PHscale rugby club emerged winners of the Lagos State U15 Rugby Tournament held in Lagos over the weekend.

The games which saw five male teams and two female teams compete for the ultimate trophy was played at the CMS Grammar School Bariga.

In a round-robin game for the male category after playing four games a piece, PHscale won all their games proceeding to the final with Team Lagos A who won three games. 

Prince Godswill and Michael Ebuka alongside Prince Godswill were all in the score sheet for the PHscale of Port Harcourt.

The girls U15 also had a taste of the action as Team Lagos Girls won the trophy.

In his remark, the Chairman of the Lagos State Rugby Association, Hon Larinde Williams appreciated all the team's who took part in the maiden edition especially PHscale who travelled all the way from Port Harcourt.

"I sincerely want to use this opportunity to thank and appreciate you Boys and Girls who honoured this competition of ours. We want to assure you that our main goal is to make rugby a house hold name in Lagos State.

“This is just a rehearsal, as from next year, we shall have more games to keep you busy”.

“I am also well impressed with the female game which has improved a lot, with this, Lagos can challenge for goal at the next youth games competition.”

In a highly contested final Match, PHscale scored 5 tries and conversion 1 against Team Lagos A who score 2 tries as the match ended 27-10While the girls final saw Team White winning 10-0 with two tries. 

Speaking with the Coach of PHScale, Abdul Azeez Abdul Rafiu, he stated that more games will create awareness for sponsorship.

 "Rugby as a fun-filled sport and a fast-growing sport in the country, If properly established right from the grassroots level (Primary and Secondary School) it will help in creating awareness and chances of attracting sponsorship.

Growing or Developing Rugby in the country should only be based on building a state team but also a club team for Leagues and Other championships".

"We the entire PHScale Rfc team sincerely appreciate the Lagos State government for helping us to express our love for Rugby, like our Motor: with zeal and true dedication, aim high".
