Date for the second edition of Peller Unity Cup final has been shifted, OyoSportsNews reports.
The Oke Ogun pretigious football competition kicked off February 22nd, 2022 after it was postponed twice as a result of COVID-19 and Insecurity related reports.
After matchday 38, Iseyin City cruised to the final with a 3-1 win over Itesiwaju Lions while Iseyin United spanked Itesiwaju Rangers 2-0 to set up all-seyin cup final.
Speaking to OyoSportsNews, overall Chairman, local organizing committee, Oladayo Alabi fondly called 'Gola' said date for the final has been pushed back by at least 45 days to cater for Ramadan and allow Muslim players, coaches time to rest and recover after a month of fasting and prepare well for the final.
'Gola' said the decision came after a joint and professional deliberation and request from members and local organizing committee from all ten local governments which was granted and approved by Hon Shina Abiola Peller.
"I'm happy to tell you that Hon Shina Abiola Peller has approved and granted our request to shift the cup final till after Ramadan period. We (LOC) made a request and it was granted immediately. The date has not been fixed but it will definitely be after Ramadan period."
Oladayo Alabi quoted Hon Sina Peller saying: "This is done to allow players, officials, committees, match officials prepare for Ramadan and take time to rest."
