Akwa United recent results at the Nigeria Professional Football League has called for concerns most especially from football stakeholders in the state. After the sack Kennedy Boboye, the defending champion under an interim coach has conceded ten premier league goals in their last five matches and managed to get three. They currently sit sixth position on the log and with the statement made by new head coach, Ayodeji Ayeni, the promise keepers are good to go again.Ayodeji Ayeni said: "I came as someone with positive mind and believe nothing is not possible in the game of football and I want to assure all stakeholders that a new dawn has come to stay for us to go back to where the team belong."
"I've come to add my own quota because Akwa United is a rich club in Nigeria and Africa and every one must join hands together to make sure the team get to the level it was before. I'm going to work together with the technical department, management, supporters, sports writers and every stakeholders; so that we can actualize the desires and aspiration of the team."
