Saki United welcomes Shooting Stars to the OYSADA football pitch, Saki town on Sunday afternoon in the maiden edition of Seyi Makinde Football Volunteer Movement and Head Coach of Saki United, Iwalewa Qoseem has been talking tough ahead of match. Walcott as fondly called also claimed that his team will "have to be at 120%" in order to stand a chance of overcoming Shooting Stars.
The Asabari Warriors were paired with the Oluyole Warriors, with the fixture to take place at OYSADA football pitch, Saki on Sunday, October 16, 2022 at 3:00pm.
On paper, Shooting Stars are favourite but on head to head, Saki United had decent records in their past meetings especially at the Ibadan Football Association (IFA) League, and 2022 Oyo State Aiteo Cup.
The Asabari Warriors held 3SC to three draws in their last five meetings; (0-0 friendly match on October 11, 2019 at Saki), (1-1 result at the 2019 IFA League) and (0-0 at the 2022 IFA League) Saki United lost 1-0 to Shooting Stars at the 2019 Oyo State Federation Cup and for the first time, the Okere boys booted Shooting Stars out of the State Aiteo Cup through penalty shoot-out after a two-all draw.
When asked about his team readiness ahead of facing Gbenga Ogunbote's Shooting Stars at Saki on Sunday afternoon, Iwalewa Qoseem replied OyoSportsNews.
"Shooting Stars are not one of the best teams in Oyo state but the best team. They have got quality players who understand Nigeria league very well and they have experienced coaching staff. It won't be a easy match because we sent them out of the state Aiteo cup, I expect them to come hard, physical and determined on Sunday."
“But for us, it’s just about how we play, how we defend and how we attack. We just have to be focused, - we have our game plan and for the fact that we are playing them in front of our fans, supporters and home ground, we shall definitely bring out our game.
Iwalewa Qoseem also sent a strong message ahead of the match that his side won’t be feeling inferior to 3SC.
"My players won’t lose confidence and feel inferior to Shooting Stars players, we have good players that are good enough to play at the Nigeria Professional Football League and National League. Every game has it own pattern and approach. My players are in good form at the moment, and they are full of confidence."
The maiden edition of Seyi Makinde Football Volunteer Movement, powered by Mr Jide Olugbodi, Ibadan Football Association (IFA) Chairman, Barrister Rotimi Alli, Mr Tunde Adejuwon and Richard Adefiranyo will take place in three centers.
