Shooting Stars are in Cloud Nine right now after defeating local derby rivals, Saki United, 2-0, at the matchday one of Seyi Makinde Football Volunteer Movement maiden edition.
The Oluyole Warriors settled for a halftime scoreless result after five chances were wasted from the trio of Joshua Akpan, Okachi Anthony and Akintunde Bala.
Saki United could have taken the lead at the first half after Fatai Umar's attempt hit the woodwork at the 23rd minute. Jimoh Qodri and Adebayo Sikiru's efforts in the area were brilliantly saved by Shooting Stars shot stopper Bamidele Adeniyi.
Seventeen minute into the second half, Ojetiefian Desmond put the Oluyole Warriors ahead with his first touch through a flick on header at the 52nd minute. The Ibadan Soccer Lords increased the tally through Anthony Okachi at the 63rd minute.
Shooting Stars will next play the winner of Wednesday's fixture between Crown FC and Oyo State Housing Corporation FC at the LAUTECH football pitch, Ogbomoso at 3pm.
