Former Nigeria international shot stopper Dosu Joseph has thanked the management of Shooting Stars of Ibadan for appointing his younger brother John Dosu as one of the Goalkeeper Trainers for the club. The former Julius Berger and Reggiana keeper was also quick to offer advice to his brother on Shooting Stars coaching job.
Recall that John Dosu, a former Shooting Stars and Warri Wolves goaltender was spotted at the Lekan Salami stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan during the unveiling programme of Coach Gbenga Ogunbote and was reported to have joined Shooting Stars coaching staff ahead of the Nigeria Professional Football League 2022/23 season.
Two days after Coach Gbenga Ogunbote took charge at the Oluyole Warriors, John Dosu was announced via Shooting Stars official facebook page to have joined 3SC after working with Smart City FC, Peter Rufai Football Academy and MFM FC of Lagos as goalkeepers' trainer.
Speaking exclusively to OyoSportsNews, founder of Westerlo Football Academy and elder brother of John, Dosu Joseph said the appointment of John as goalkeeper trainer for Shooting Stars was a good decision which will definitely help his coaching profile and experience.
The Olympics gold medalist also offered advice to the former El-kanemi Warriors player of how to get the best out of young goalkeepers.
"Firstly, I will like to thank the management of Shooting Stars for appointing him as one of the goalkeepers' trainers, Shooting Stars are one of the big clubs in the country and Nigeria football and one should be proud and thankful to serve in such capacity."
"I'm quite sure he will take care of himself at the Oluyole Warriors, he understands the league better, he has kept for many clubs, both the traditional clubs and new clubs during his football career. He has also worked with a professional league club, National League side and Academy. I believe he knows the dos and don'ts, reactions, cultures and as coach, you must not stop learning."
John Dosu is currently working with Shooting Stars alongside Kola Ige as goalkeepers' trainers.
