PARIS OLYMPICS QUALIFICATION: RAFIAT LAWAL SHINES, SECURES TICKET

Nigeria International Weightlifter Rafiat Folashade Lawal has sealed the 2024 Olympic ticket after triumphing in the women's Group C, 59KG category at the ongoing 2024 IWF world cup in Phuket, Thailand .
Lawal, who won three gold medals for Team Oyo at the last National Sports Festival, got a total of 101-126-227, having finished 7th in the rankings.
It should be noted that the 101 lift in snatch, 126 in clean & jack, and the total of 227 is an African record in the women's 59KG category.

The Oluyole Warriors, after their qualification to round 32 early this morning without kicking the ball, following the refusal of Zamfara United FC to show up for the round of 64 fixture at the Area 3 field, Abuja have been expelled from the oldest football competition in Nigeria. In a letter signed by the director for competition, Ruth David, on behalf of the Nigeria Football Federation General Secretary. Five players who were not registered with the Nigeria Football Federation for this year edition were fielded in today's match against Zamfara United.
