Ilaji Football Club have enjoyed good runs with impressive outings in their last two campaign in the Nationwide League One. The Sanusi Boys finished second behind Offa in 2021/2022 and were unable to secure promotion play-off last season (2022/23) behind Shooting Stars Team B on goals difference.With the new season starting this weekend at Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan centre, General Manager and Head Coach of Ilaji FC, Babatunde Odubola fondly called Zico told OyoSportsNews that his players are are up for the challenge, banking on then rich experience from thier previous two seasons.
The Oyo State Federation Cup Champions, after losing their first match by the alone goal to Positive FC, went unbeaten in four games, gathering twelve points behind Shooting Stars Team B with thesame points.
"We don't know much about these teams, but we are prepared to put up our best and get what we wanted. In the last two seasons, we came second on the log, we've learnt some lessons, and I believed the experience gathered will definitely work for us."
"We are ready to play any team at any time and our aim to make sure we promote to the National League."
"Our players are ever ready for the league, our feat at the state federation cup would not get into thier heads, knowing fully well that Ilaji FC is much interested in securing clubs for these players at abroad. Federation Cup trophy would not affect us."
Babatunde Odubola, who recently marked his 60th birthday anniversary added that the technical crew won't underrate any team, assuring that the club's regulars will be action on Sunday against Oye Olohun Travels & Tours Football Club.
"We don't want to underrate any team this time around. We have registered all our players for league. We were unable to use some players at the federation cup because of our plans outside the country, but this around, they are all in and ready for the lewgue." He concluded.
