Shooting Stars forward Sunday Faleye has tendered an unreserved apology to Oyo State Football Association (OYSFA) for his unruly behaviour that happened on June 12, 2022 when Shooting Stars host Plateau United.
Sunday Faleye was reportedly rude and unguarded at the entrance to the main pitch after being denied access into the stadium due to the 'behind closed doors' verdict made by the League Management Company as a result of crowd violence.
In a letter dated June 26th, 2022, the former Dukla Prague said: "Honestly, what really transpired that particular day was a misunderstanding as I never had the intention of rubbishing the leadership of the Oyo FA, led by Oba James Ọdẹníran, who I hold in high esteem."
He continues; "I was fully aware that the matchday 33 between Shooting Stars and Plateau United was to be played behind closed doors but I never knew that players who did not dress for the game will be affected."
"In short, I'm writing this letter to apologize for what happen as It was borne by of provocation due to the little misunderstanding and I promised that such will never happe again."
Meanwhile, OyoSportsNews in a telephone call with the Oyo State Football Association secretary Mr Kehinde Ojelowo confirmed the receipt of the letter and informed that the indefinite ban has been lifted. The association under Oba James Ọdẹníran also warned Sunday Faleye to desist for any act that could bring the game of Football to disrepute.
