STUDENTS, SPORTS LOVERS AND JOURNALISTS MINGLED AT THE 2ND EDITION OF IMOLE SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT SPORTS QUIZ COMPETITION
It was a celebration galore coupled with great excitement and enthusiasm as one of the popular Sports OAP in Ibadan - Ibraheem Akolade Oladimeji (Imolesports) organised Sports Quiz Competition for both public and private secondary school across the State today Thursday 16th June, 2022.
The programme which was the second edition after the inaugural last year was held at Dapo Aderogba Hall, NUJ Press Centre, Iyaganku, Ibadan. This year's edition was a step-up of the maiden as some "spices" were added not only to make it educative but also entertaining.
Amidst sports quiz segment for participating schools, awards of excellence and recognition were ditched out for important personalities for their contributions in the World of Sports. Several music artistes such as Khalifah GMI,Ola Focus, Baba Aliyah and the ever energetic dance-group - Crystal Dance Academy, light-up the event with mouthwatering and incredible performances. It was a sight to behold.
Eight schools: Adelagun Memorial Grammar School, Unique Legacy College, Light of Faith Islamic School, Madibo Islamic School, PeaceLand International School, Royal Diadem School, Glorious College and Rubies International College all participated in the Sports Quiz Competition.
The quiz kick-started with sports puzzle game where schools were allowed to test their abilities when it comes to various Olympics Sports. This was followed by the first round of the quiz, where four schools were eliminated. The remaining four schools were taken through the second round, in which two schools qualified for the final round while the other two fought it out for in the third place. After a fierce and befitting contest, Madibo Islamic School came out 3rd, leaving Royal Diadem School 2nd while Rubies International College came out Champion in this edition of the Imole Sports Entertainment Sports Quiz Competition for the year 2022.
In his speech, the organiser - Ibraheem Akolade Oladimeji (Imolesport) - appreciated all the participating schools, the organising committee, the sponsors (both home and abroad), the awardees, the invited guests, his bosses at the NUJ, well-wishers, and everyone who had contributed in the success of the programme. He promised to surge ahead and make the next year edition better while complimenting his speech with prayers for all and sundry.
Furthermore, the mother of the day - Ambassador (Dr.) Romoke Rahmat Ayinde (C.E.O Kayrom Lee Gym and Fitness Centre) was excited while giving her speech. She urged sports-lovers, stakeholders in sports and every Nigerian to invest more in Sports stating its importance as a tool to kill boredom and negativity in our society. She later presented gifts and souvenirs for all the participating schools.
The events witnessed many "big fish" on the Microphone. The Chairman of the Oyo State Chapter of the NUJ, in the person of Mr Ademola Babalola (DEMBAB), the General Manager of Pensioners Fm 106.7, Dr. Babatunde Tiamiyy, Lori Papa Crooner and the Ibadan Number one Yoruba Sports presenter, Alhaji Babatunde Saheed (Mr Sports), Oyetayo Oladimeji (MC Handsome), Kenny Ogunmiloro, Gbolahan Olalere, Ajibola Agboola (Arole Role Model), Hon Prince Jubril Abimbola Arowolo, Mallam Fresh, Abiala Dahunsi Kaka, et al.
Finally, the certificate of participation were given to all the participating schools alongside various consolation prizes. The first, second and third positions were also given special prizes for their performances. Presentations of the awards were followed by the suspension prayer till the next edition coming next year.
Everyone was in awe for the doggedness of the organiser plus the itch free programme and really hope the event did not come to an end. Having next year at the back of their minds, everyone disperses with radiant faces and "see you next year" greetings.
