Oyo State Football Association under the chairmanship of Oba James Ọdẹníran has suspended Shooting Stars forward, Sunday Faleye for the remaining fixtures of the season.
In a letter made available to OyoSportsNews at exactly 12:01am on Monday, June 13, 2022 by the association secretary Mr Kehinde Ojelowo. Sunday Faleye was reported to have force his way into the stadium by breaking the entrance to the mixed zone.
Recall that Shooting Stars have been ordered by the League Management Company to play thier last three home matches behind closed doors due to the behaviour of their fans during the Matchday 31 game against Remo Stars, which contravened the NPFL framework.
Mr Kehinde Ojelowo, said further that the association had instructed and informed Shooting Stars management that only eighteen players and officials would be allowed into the stadium while undressed players are to abide by the ruling of the League Management Company.
OyoSportsNews relaibly gathered that the former Dukla Prague on April 6, 2022 reportedly injured a fan of Shooting Stars with a bottle shortly after Shooting Stars played a goalless draw against Gombe United. The ugly incident which was swept under the carpet.
"We are surprised for the unsportmanly behaviour Sunday Faleye, a 3SC Player exhibited during the match between Shooting Stars and Plateau United by forcefully breaking the entrance to the mixed zone to gain entrance to the stadium despite the instruction given before the match that, all the 3SC players that didn't dress shouldn't come to the stadium because of the closed door order."
"In view of this, Sunday Faleye is hereby suspended from entering all stadia in the state for the rest of the season. And 3SC management to repair the broken door with immediate effect. This step is taken because all our efforts to make him understand what he did was wrong proved abortive and he didn't show any sign of remose or respect to anybody."
Meanwhile, Oyo State Football Association has implored the good people of state to be law abiding in all sporting venues and ensure public properties are properly used and maintained.
The association also thanked football stakeholders in the state for their understanding and cooperation before, during and after Shooting Stars match against Plateau United.
