The Oyo State Government has reassured the good people of Ogbomoso of accelerated completion of the ongoing renovation and upgrading of Soun Township stadium in Ogbomoso.Commissioner for youths and sports in Oyo state, Asiwaju Seun Fakorede gave the assurance on Tuesday while speaking with OyoSportsNews.
Recall that on 14th of August 2020, Governor Seyi Makinde flagged off the remodeling of Lekan Salami stadium and other six mini stadia in the state at a total cost of N5,580,001,151:62k.
Governor Makinde, who reiterated his commitment that no region in the state would be deprived or denied enjoying the wave of socio-economic development across the state had inspected Saki mini stadium while work are currently going at Olubadan stadium at Iyanganku Ibadan, Oyo mini stadium at Durbar, Iseyin, Igboora and Soun township stadium, Ogbomoso.
Crown FC are temporarily using the LAUTECH football pitch in Ogbomoso as their adopted home for the ongoing 2021/2022 Nigeria National League, (NNL) season pending completion of renovation works at their permanent home, Soun Township Stadium.
Asiwaju Seun Fakorede assured that the Soun stadium will be completed before the end of the ongoing football season and Crown FC will return to their traditional home ground for NPFL matches.
"Mark my words, by the special grace of God and by the time Crown FC secure that promotional ticket, that stadium will be completed and delivered. We won't have any reason why Crown FC will be playing outside Ogbomoso as it had happened in the past."
"It won't speak well to get the promotion ticket and leave Ogbomoso for another state or venue outside the community. Also, the stadium is also to increase the awareness of grassroots sports, for anyone who want to know, I'm assuring people that the stadium will be available next season."
Crown FC are currently top of the Nigeria National League Group B2 Standings with four points. A promotion ticket for the Ajilete Warriors will be the third time at the elite league.
