There were no goals and nothing to separate the two sides at the first half at the LAUTECH football pitch Ogbomoso on Saturday evening with Adeniyi Sunday making just one save for the Ajilete Warriors at the first 45 minutes between Crown FC and Rovers.Unfortunately, Crown FC attacking threats failed to find breakthrough against visiting Rovers FC after five scoring chances at the first half and the Calabar based side settled for a goalless half-time score.
After 62nd minutes of play, Rovers FC succumbed to Crown FC via a penalty kick which was converted by Oginni Olatunbosun after Taiwo Abdullahi's cross was obviously handled in the box.
‘It was a hard game,’ said the former ABS FC head coach. ‘There was a lot of intensity and chances for us to kill the game, so in the end I think it was a hard fought win."
"I want to say it wasn't an easy match, Rovers are behind us on the table and they are trying how they can meet up with their objectives. We are also looking on how we can secure the win, get three points and more goals."
"In the first half, we played good game, have good possession with four chances but my strikers failed to covert those chances. We had one hundred percent good ball possession at the first half but we failed to score."
"At the second half after taking the lead, we kept on having possession but in football, if you can't score - you are not making any impact or progress at the training session. So, I was looking for a goal to cement the lead. As it stands, we shall go back to the drawing board to correct our mistakes and do better."
With 1-0 win over Rovers FC on Saturday evening, Crown FC are currently six points clear on the log with 33points and will be monitoring Warri Wolves Sunday fixture against Ijebu United.
