NPFL: CRISIS LOOMS IN NIGERIA FOOTBALL

•NFF Appeals Committee Under Pressure to Shift Sitting on Kano Pillars' Case
•Matchday 38 Games May Not Hold This Weekend
The Nigerian football scene may be thrown into deep crises if reports surrounding the case involving Kano Pillars are anything to go by.
This followed the purported plan to shift the sitting of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Appeals Committee, scheduled to hold on Thursday July 14, 2022, till after the last matches of the 2021/22 season, slated for this Sunday.
It was gathered that the Appeals Committee, which had fixed Thursday, July 14 as the date for its sitting, to look into the appeal filed by Kano Pillars over the deduction of three points from their points after breaking the rules and framework of the league, is being pressurized to shift its sitting.
With no concrete reasons given for the planned shift in date of the committee's sitting, our sources revealed that the move may not be unconnected with efforts to give undue favour to Kano Pillars in their struggle to escape the drop.
This report confirmed the earlier story which went viral on Monday, on how pressure was being mounted on the Appeals Committee to reverse the decision of the Organising and Disciplinary Committee (O&D) of the NFF, which had activated the deduction of the team's three points, suspended by the LMC, for a breach of the rule.
However, our source hinted that any attempt to shift the date of the Appeals Committee's sitting from Thursday, may spark up crisis as clubs have expressed their reservations over the planned move.
"I am just getting wind of that move but I don't want to believe it is true because no official information on that has been released so far, so it is unofficial.
"We as stakeholders in the league, are all looking forward to the Appeals Committee's sitting on Thursday as anything different will not be accepted", said a top official of one of the NPFL clubs, who further stated that an unnecessary shift in the sitting of the Committee could force clubs to put the matchday 38 fixtures, billed for this Sunday on hold.
"If the rumours eventually turned out to be true at the end of the day, then all the clubs will meet to deliberate on the next line of action, but for now, let's believe it is just a rumour", he concluded.
