AITEO CUP: OGUNGBADE FARUK SCORES HAT-TRICK AS OYO HOUSING FC DUMP JIGAWA GS OUT

Oyo state representative and runner's up at the state Aiteo Cup, Oyo State Housing Corporation FC this evening dumped Jigawa Golden Stars out of the Aiteo Cup.

The Nigeria National League side were beaten 4-2 by Housing Corporation FC led by Coach Sanusi Musiliu Kolawole 'Ikerika' at the Minna township stadium. Housing Corporation FC have not lost thier last three competitive matches with two wins and a draw which earned them a promotion to the Nationwide League II.

Akinlabi Oladimeji opened the score sheet for the Ibadan based team before Ogungbade Faruk increased the tally to two at the 31st minute.

Two minutes later, Jigawa Golden Stars pulled one back to reduce the deficit but it didn't last as Ogungbade Faruk grabbed his second goal to send the two teams to halftime break with 3-1 lead.

Efforts made by Jigawa Golden Stars at the second half paid off with another goal at the 73rd minutes.

However, Ogungbade Faruk scored the fourth goal for Oyo State Housing Corporation FC and his third at the 82nd minute.

Speaking to OyoSportsNews shortly after the match, Coach Sanusi Musiliu Kolawole 'Ikerika' commended the behaviour and mentality of his players most especially at the first half.

"I think the behaviour and the performance of the players on the field is amazing, they look really positive. The way they understand everything and the way they played the match, of course every single match is different, but very positive.

"I feel they're happy, I feel they're positive, I feel they're confident in the way they play and the energy they are using. Although, they look tired at the second half which I believe it was a result of fatigue and new environment but they still look fit and after the match I think they've got confidence for the next match."
