WESLEY ALL STARS WIN PA OLATUNBOSUN MAKINDE MEMORIAL INVITATIONAL VETERANS FOOTBALL COMPETITION

Wesley All Stars of Ekekuro have been crowned champions of the first edition of Pa Olatunbosun Makinde memorial invitational veterans football competition organized by Oyo State Football Association in conjunction with Oyo State Sports Council after they defeated Ibadan City All Stars 5-4 on penalties.
At the semi finals, Wesley All Stars booked a place after the final stage after beating Loyola All Stars by one-nil while former Shooting Stars pointman and current assistant coach, Kabir Alausa grabbed the lone goal for Ibadan City All Stars from the spot over stubborn Bodija Housing All Stars.
After a tight contest, the full time score stood at 0-0 even as both teams tried to outwit themselves while trying to take their chances during the game.
The Ibadan City All Stars had the better of the game as they dominated play in the first half missing several scoring chances.
Wesley All Stars also created a lot of chances but Abayomi Adigun 'Ogboju' and Abass Rotimi were solid at the backline.
Both teams then had to decide their fate via penalties after the referee signaled end of the game at 0-0.
The end result saw the Wesley All Stars winning 5-4 on shoot out, then claiming the trophy of the first edition of Pa Olatunbosun Makinde memorial invitational veterans football competition.
Ibadan Soccer Ambassadors forward Nurudeen Fijabi was named the most valuable player of the tournament, with Kabiru Alausa picking up the top scorer’s award with three goals. Sarafa Hammed fondly called 'Atulewa' was named the best goalkeeper of the competition while Bodija Housing All Stars emerged third position after a three-nil win over Loyola All Stars.
Speaking after the competition, Chairman Oyo State Sports Council, Hon Gbenga Adewusi fondly called 'Arole' commended the state governor Engr Seyi Makinde for his contributions in sports development in the state most especially on the remodelling of Lekan Salami stadium and other six mini stadia across the state. He also commended members of the organizing committee and the state football association chairman Oba James ỌdẹnÃran. He, then congratulated the winner of the first edition.
