The Nigeria Professional Football League transfer window is now officially OPEN! But when is deadline day? And who are the big names to look out for?
The League Management Company (LMC) has announced and declared open Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) 2022/23 season transfer window.
According to the LMC, clubs can now register new signings officially, it will run for 61 days - starting from 1st of August, 2022 with deadline day on September 30th, 2022.
The spending this summer is likely to be significantly impacted by the financial constraints brought about by the Nigeria economy system as we know that 97% of Nigeria Professional league clubs are funded by the state government.
However, finances were also tight last season and we certainly weren't short of big-money moves, with the likes of Theophilus Afelokai, Sikiru Alimi and many more moving to another team.
And there will undoubtedly be a number of high-profile signings made this window, with Rivers United, Plateau United and Remo Stars looking to strengthen thier squad ahead CAF assignments while teams that escaped relegation at the last day of the just concluded season would not want to repeat thier respective mistakes and shortcomings.
A number of high-profile players have already been linked with transfers but throughout the universe, we can't separate rumours, gossip, collapsed deals and negotiations from transfers window.
Football managers and coaches are also expected to part ways on mutual consent, or be sacked and moved to another club.
No official statement from clubs, football agents and players. But, certainly, clubs are expected to get new legs before the league kicks off.
