Ayodeji Ayeni hailed the effort made by his Akwa United players in overcoming a tricky league match against struggling Shooting Stars.After picking a point against Kano Pillars last Wednesday in an away fixture, Head Coach Ayodeji Ayeni secured his first win since in charge of the Promise Keepers after three league matches.
Goals from Bello Babatunde and Naibe Akpesir gave the league champion a comfortable 2-0 lead before Chidera Eze reduced the tally at the 80th minute.
Ayodeji Ayeni while speaking to newsmen after match commemded the spirit shown by his players. He said his target is to continue with the unbeaten run and build a formidable team that will contest for everything.
"I'm very elated because it wasn't always easy when you came in the mid-season. You didn't recruit the players you met on ground and you had to work on the psychology of the players, change the orientation, tactical approach and the philosophy of the team."
"It's going to be a gradual process, the team is coming gradually, just a matter of time."
"Loss of concentration cost of the goal but human error can happen. I have to give it to the boys, for winning thier confidence back gradually after winless run. I appreciate their doggedness, resilience and dexterity."
