As excitement builds ahead of this Sunday’s highly anticipated South-West Derby between Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) and Ikorodu City, the Oluyole Warriors have called for peace, discipline, and maximum support from their teeming fans.
The clash, scheduled for 4 p.m. at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, promises to be a fierce encounter as both sides battle for vital points on Matchday Three of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
Shooting Stars Sporting Director, Adepoju Tobi Samuel, speaking during an X Space interview session hosted by 3SC Fans TV, appealed to supporters of the Oluyole Warriors to uphold dignity and discipline before, during, and after matches. He stressed that football can only flourish in an atmosphere of peace and mutual respect, not violence.
The Chief Executive Officer of OgaNla Media Communication noted that fans play a vital role in shaping the image of the club and urged them to show exemplary conduct that reflects the true spirit of the game.
“Violence doesn’t have a space in football. Everyone should understand this. Fans must respect themselves and also respect the visitors. We picked a point in Benin against Insurance peacefully, and Bayelsa United won in Ibadan without trouble. That’s how the game should be,” Adepoju said.
He also praised the current Shooting Stars management under Hon. Taiwo Lekan-Salami for restructuring the club, putting strong security measures in place, and working tirelessly to restore the image of 3SC as a disciplined and respected football brand.
“The club chairman is a complete gentleman who doesn’t want the club in a bad light. Things are really changing at Shooting Stars, and the fans need to match the management’s efforts with good conduct,” Adepoju added.
The Oluyole Warriors’ faithful are urged to arrive early, purchase tickets, and enjoy a 90-minute football spectacle while cheering the team from the blast of the whistle to the very end.
Meanwhile, the Referees Appointment Committee has confirmed match officials for the derby. Lamido Ahmad (Yobe) will officiate, with Ikponwonsa Imuetinya (Edo) and Fisobe Samson (FCT) as assistants. Scholastica Ike Obi (Anambra) is the reserve referee, while Chris Nnamdi (Ebonyi) and Onyeforo Eke Okorie (Abia) serve as match commissioner and referee assessor respectively.
With adequate security guaranteed and the club calling for fair play, the stage is set for a thrilling yet peaceful South-West Derby at Adamasingba.
