NEW OYO BADMINTON COACH PROMISES TO FOCUS ON GRASSROOT DEVELOPMENT

Oyo State Sports Council new badminton head coach, Oshinubi Adeyemi Olanrewaju says he's committed to the growth of badminton at the grassroots in the state.

Oshinubi, a former badminton player told OyoSportsNews shortly after receiving his appointment letter at the office of director of administration and supplies that his plans are to discover young athletes, encouraged, nurtured, and ensured they have a podium finish at any competitions.

He stated further that developing young athletes is part of him because he has passion for it, as it will, in turn, develop the state.

"I'm overwhelmed and excited to be appointed by the management of Oyo State Sports Council. I'm really grateful for this opportunity, and I'm glad to serve in this capacity. The most important thing is to make a positive impact and growth of badminton in the state."

"As a young coach, I like promoting and developing badminton because it will, in turn, develop the country. Besides, it will also go a long way to curb youth restiveness by engaging the youth meaningfully.”

"There is a need for us through the state badminton association to organise competitions in various categories that will help the athletes. One of the challenges confronting sports generally is lack of competition. With the help of the state sports council and private sponsors, I believe badminton will be great in Oyo state."

He further seeked the support of badminton stakeholders in the state and appealed to other corporate organisations and well meaning individuals to support and promote sports development in Oyo state.
