ILAJI FC EMERGE FEDERATION CUP CHAMPIONS FOR FIRST TIME EVER IN SIX-GOAL THRILLER

Ilaji Football Club have won the 2024 Oyo State Federation Cup for the first time following a 5-4 penalty shoot-out win over Shooting Stars of Ibadan on Sunday.The club, after three years of participating at the state federation cup clinched the title for the first time in the annual competition’s history.
Ifon Pepo opened the scoring for the Oluyole Warriors in the 15th minutes but only lasted for 16th minutes as Ilaji FC defender Babalola Okikiola score two goals within two minutes to give his side a first half lead at halftime.
In the second half, Shooting Stars relaible midfielder and captain Taofeek Malomo came off the bench to draw levels for the warriors at the 62nd minutes, but, again, Ilaji FC took the lead five minutes later as Babalola Okikiola completed his hat-trick for Ilaji FC at the 67th minute. With 18minute left to decide the winner, Ayobami Junior' striaght shot outside the box caught Akanfe Oyewale napping in a six-goal thriller encounter.
After three all draw of the regulation time, Ilaji FC emerged champions 5-4 on penalty shoot-out.
Ilaji FC and Shooting Stars will represent Oyo state at the National Federation Cup billed to start April 2024.
