Saki United FC assistant coach Adebayo Adeyinka has praised his player's character following a hard fought win in the round one fixture of the Oyo State 2024 Federation Cup against debutant Sult De King [SDK) Football Club.
The 2022 champions began their quest to win the federation cup title for the second time on Wednesday afternoon at the newly renovated Iseyin township stadium.
The Asabari Warriors followed their Ibadan based counterparts Adeyemi FC and Oyo State Housing Corporation FC in recording a win over a resilient and discipline side, Sult De King FC.
The young tactician is not happy with his side, conceding a late minute equalizer that led to a penalty shoot-out and also explains why his players were able to deal with the pressure of a penalty shootout.
"In the first half, we saw that our opponent are very good side, we also believe in our team to actually do well. We were under a lot of pressure, but we were able to contain it, which gave us lots of confidence until we got a goal."
"In the second half, most times in football, the leading team wants to defend the lead. Also, our opponent wanted to get the goal, so it was impossible for us to defend the goal until we conceded a late goal. "
"We knew the competition was a knockout, so we prepared for everything, including penalties and you can see that our goalkeeper and takers did well. We kept the pressures during penalties and we won to the glory of God."
However, Adebayo Adeyinka’s faith in his players remains intact with the assistant coach convinced that the team will do everything possible to win this year edition after thier triumphant in 2022.
