OYO SPORTS COMMISSIONER STORMS TEAM OYO CAMP, COMMENDS ATHLETES ON PERFORMANCE

As part of its efforts towards ensuring that Team Oyo athletes make podium appearances at the 7th edition of National Youth Games, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports in Oyo State, Honourable Wasilat Adegoke, yesterday paid a visit to the camp of the state contingent in Asaba, Delta state and commended thier efforts and performances as curtain draws on the annnual events tagged 'Asaba 2023'.
Hon Wasilat Adegoke, in her first major official function outside Oyo State, commended the athletes for putting up good fights and making the state proud through their performances in various sports.
She remarked the efforts put in place my coaches, sports officers, and other staff of the Oyo State Sports Council before and during the annual National Youth Games.
"Before you depart Oyo State a few days ago for Asaba, I remembered I told you I will definitely see you soon and today - I'm excited to be here with you. I want to commend everyone present here, the athletes coaches and staff of the Sports Council. The people of Oyo state are proud of you, His Excellency Engineer Seyi Makinde is equally proud of your performance right here in Asaba, Detla state."
"We were able to win medals and reach major finals in team sports, and this is highly commendable. I sincerely appreciate the entire contingent for making us proud. We are the pace setters state, and this must reflect in everything we do."
"It's a yearly event, and preparation for the 8th edition will be extensively mapped out immediately we return to Oyo state."
The Acting General of the Oyo State Sports Council, Mr Tunde Ajibike, in his remarks, appreciated the sports commissioner for her visit and thanked His Excellency Engineer Seyi Makinde for showing deep interest in youth and sports development.
Responding on behalf of the athletes, Ojo Kehinde Ifeoluwa, who participated in athletics, expressed the excitement at the Commissioner's visit and thanked her for taking out time from his tight schedule to visit and motivate the team.

Okikiola helped his side clinch her first ever federation cup title, scoring three goals in the three all draw, Ilaji FC emegerd champions 5-4 on penalties and will represent Oyo state at the National Federation Cup.
