NYG 2023: TEAM OYO IN HIGH SPIRIT AS THEY ARRIVE ASABA TO SWOOP MEDALS

Oyo state contingent to the 7th National Youth Games holding in Asaba, Delta state safely arrived the 'Big Heart'city on Thurday night, two days before the commencement of action today with a vow to give their best and win medals for the state.
The contingent led by the Acting General Manager of the Oyo State Sports Council Mr Tunde Ajibike is joined by directors, sports officers, coaches and 167 athletes who will be representing the state at the 7th edition.
Team Oyo headed straight to their official camp located inside Dennis Osadebe University, where they finally settled for today's (Friday) screening exercise at the main bowl of Stephen Keshi stadium.
According to reports from the Local Organising Committee, the festival effectively getting into full swing tomorrow (Saturday) with the official opening ceremony and march pass scheduled at the Stephen Keshi stadium.
Team Oyo is expected to compete for honours in over twenty games, including Track and Field, Swimming, Badminton, Judo, Taekwondo, Handball, Volleyball, Table Tennis, Tennis and many other events.
Speaking to newsmens on Friday morning, Acting General Manager of the Oyo State Sports Council, Mr Tunde Ajibike assured the government of good outings in Asaba.
"To the glory of God, we arrived Asaba early Thursday morning and even before many states. This shows our preparedness and determination for this year edition and to win medals. I would like to say a very big thanks to the state governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde for granting the approval to participate in the edition, we promise to represent the state well."
Mr Tunde Ajibike added that the athletes are in high spirits and ready for the competition.
