The Oyo State Football Association Chairman, HRM Oba James Odeniran, has congratulated the Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde, on his re-election victory during the just concluded guber polls in the state.

In his congratulatory message on Tuesday, March 21st, 2023, the association chairman; on behalf of my entire executive members described Saturday’s Gubernatorial Elections as free, fair, and credible and indeed a triumph for Nigeria’s democracy.
Oba James Odeniran, the Alakinyele of Akinyele noted that the result which was announced on Sunday afternoon by the Independent National Electoral Commission was a resounding victory and reward for hard work for Governor Makinde to continue his mandate in building a greater Oyo state.
"On behalf of the Oyo State Football Association, I want to congratulate the People's Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, for winning Saturday's election as Governor of Oyo state for another term in office. I'm excited about the news as announced by INEC, and this was a result of hard work, commitment, and dedication in his first four years. We can all see the infrastructural developments, construction of roads, and the settlement of age-long ownership tussle of the jointly owned Ladoke Akintola University of Technology."
Oba James Odeniran also commended Makinde for his commitment to sports infrastructure courtesy of the upgrading of Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba Ibadan and new sports facilities across Oyo state, rehabilitation of existing ones, and providing platforms for young people to develop their talents.
"His Excellency has done very well in sports, not only with Shooting Stars but sports generally. The state contingent at Edo and Delta National Sports Festival made us proud beyond our imagination on the medals table. During his first term, Shooting Stars also returned to the elite league after five years and their traditional home ground. As the custodian of football-related activities in the state, League and grassroots matches can now be played at Saki, Iseyin, Ogbomoso, and Oyo because these stadiums have been upgraded and we are grateful and proud of what we've seen in sports development, he worked hard enough to deserve the victory and one good turn, deserves another."
The Alakinyele of Akinyele, however, thanked the good people of Oyo state for their trust, support, and belief which reflected the wide margin after the polls.
