Head Coach Iwalewa Qoseem says that Saki United Football Academy were unlucky to lose in their 2-1 defeat to Oyo Alaafin in the Oyo State Federation Cup and was unhappy not to have defended the title he won last year.Following Saki United's achievement last season where they emerged Champions at the 2022 Federation Cup and runners-up of the Ibadan Football Association (IFA) League, many expected the Asabari Warriors to continue their impressive form as they travelled to Atori stadium for Federation Cup.
However, things didn't go according to plan for Iwalewa and Co as they crashed out of the Federation Cup courtesy of a 2-1 defeat to Oyo Alaafin FC."As the defending Champions, we expect many teams to come hard on us, and we've prepared very well for the match, but unfortunately, we were unlucky as my boys missed many chances. Although the field also contributed to our performancewe but we missed so many scoring chances. We are out of the competition because it is a knockout competition.""We go back home and plan for the next competition ahead of us. We will pick up the pieces hopefully next edition will be better. Our target is to be at the final again and defend the title we won last year but unfortunately, we are out and we are back home. I want to apologize to our fans and thank them for the love and support they gave to us but this is football we win, lose and draw."
