SAKI GRASSROOT COMPETITION: OYO FA HAMMER FALLS ON SANNGO UTD, BANS PLAYER FOR ONE YEAR, FINES CLUB

Following the unsportmanlike conduct that occurred in a semi-final match of Alhaji Sulaimon Kanka Ileya Football Competition between Sanngo United FC and Golden Talents FC in Saki, Oyo state on 1st of July, 2024. The Disciplinary Committee of the Oyo State Football Association has taken strong action against Sanngo United FC after the chaotic incident that was also aided by their unruly fans.
The semi-final match, which couldn't continue after Sanngo United FC player, Wahab Marouf Adio, punched Referee Olayinka Tobi after he was red carded in the second half. The incident worsened thereafter with the Sanngo United fans and supporters invading the pitch, which resulted to game abandonment.
As contained in a statement signed by the association secretary, Mr Kehinde Adebayo Ojelowo. The Disciplinary Committee has placed a year ban on Sanngo United FC player Wahab Marouf Adio from all football related activities for a period of one year, starting from 1st of July, 2024. The sum of three hundred and eighty-eighty thousand, five hundred naira only [N388,500.00] that was agreed by Saki Referee Society as match officials' loss and vandalized items was also upheld.
In addition, Sanngo United FC are ruled out of the competition while Golden Talents FC progress to the final stage. Sanngo United FC are also fined fifty thousand naira only [N50,000.00] for disrupting the competition and unsportmanlike conduct.
Furthermore, Sanngo United FC are to pay the sum of one hundred thousand naira [N100,000.00] only to the cover of Oyo State Football Association for bringing the game of football into disrepute.
According to the statement, Sanngo United FC are to pay all fines before the 20th of August while failure to comply will attract stiffer penalties.
The state football governing body also gives room for an appeal with unrefundable fee of twenty-five thousand naira [25,000.00]. Sanngo United FC are aslo directed to write a letter of undertaking to the disciplinary commited of the state football association and copied Oke-Ogun Local Football Council, Saki West Football Referee Society and Nigeria Football Coaches Association [Saki West Chapter].
