SEYE ADEGBITE FIRES RED-HOT CROWN FC TO FEDERATION CUP SEMI-FINAL
A 75th minute winner from Seye Adegbite saw Crown FC secure a place in the Oyo State Federation Cup semi final with a 1-0 victory over Zion-Liberty FC.
The striker smashed home a low strike from a build up from the edge of the box to win the knockout match at Olubadan stadium and grab a place in the semi final for a first time in four years after crashing out last year to Ilaji FC at Durbar stadium, Oyo.
It was a performance full of character from Ayodeji Ayeni’s side after picking four points in Lagos against Inter Lagos FC and Smart City FC a few days ago.
Both sides had chances, but it was a joyous moment for Seye Adegbite who scored his first goal of season for the Ajilete Warriors.
Asked about the performance of his boys, technical adviser of the team, Ayodeji Ayeni told OyoSportsNews. "We were able to show character and determination but the team looks tired after we recently played two games in three days in Lagos. The players had some injuries and fatigue but we were able to grab the win."
"I'm more concerned on the Super 8 play-off in the Nigeria National League. The team must remain focus ahead this weekend tie against Edel FC."
Crown FC will face the winner between Adeyemi FC and Oyomesi FC at the semi-final stage and will also host Edel FC this weekend at Soun stadium, Ogbomoso at the matchday nine of the Nigeria National League.
Kudos to my players in ZION-LIBERTY FC. Though no mention was made of their resilience, but they didn't make the victory for Crown FC come on a platter of gold. Congratulations to Crown FC and Kudos to ZION-LIBERTY FC
