Rivers Angels sign Amazons star Okoronkwo, 3 others, commence Super 6 playoffs against Robo Queens

Nasarawa Amazons midfielder, Amarachi Okoronkwo has completed a loan move to Rivers Angels FC ahead of this season's Nigeria Women Football league (NWFL) Premiership Super 6 tournament slated to begin on April 19 in Ijebu-Ode.

Following the opening of the transfer window by organizers of the league, the Jewel of Rivers thought it wise to have the addition of the Super Falcons player as they continue their quest to defend their title and pick a continental ticket in this year's maiden edition of the CAF Women's Champions League.

Okoronkwo is joined by Confluence Queens skipper, Mercy Vincent (goalkeeper) and Favour Dagogo (forward) from Invincible Queens

Alice Ogebe is also making a return to Rivers Angels after being away from the team for two seasons.

In a related development, the Jewel of Rivers will be up against FC Robo Queens on Monday in their opening game of the NWFL Super 6 inside the main bowl of the Dino Dina International stadium in Ijebu-Ode by 4pm.

The reigning NWFL Champions lost 2-1 to the Emmanuel Osahon side during the regular season in Lagos but are hoping to get their pound of flesh this Monday.

Head Coach of Rivers Angels, Edwin Okon says his side needs to begin the campaign with a win over FC Robo.

"Every team in this tournament is no pushover so we will be approaching every game with the same intensity," he said.

"We are beginning our game against Robo tomorrow and my players already know what is at stake.

"I hope to record a win come tomorrow and also in the rest of the games we'll be playing.

"A competition like this is one that you can't afford to drop points at all so we'll be giving it our best," Okon added.
